Financial Literacy – Have You Covered All Your Bases?
How are you doing? It’s almost impossible to become financially literate overnight but if you’ve taken the opportunity to put the basics in place, you’ll be well on your way. This doesn’t mean that it takes care of itself but I think you’ll find the amount of time you spend managing your financial affairs will be reduced, hopefully leaving you more time to do the things that you enjoy.
Continue to review your plans and your progress once every few months. Be prepared to make some adjustments and tweak either your plan, your budget or your behaviour to achieve your goals.
Below we’ve listed some topics that you may or may not have included in your plan. It’s a kind of a checklist and while they may not all apply now, it’s worth a look!
- Debt
- Education
- Contingency Planning
- Savings
- Insurance
- Retirement
- Combining lives (and finances)
- Children and other responsibilities
- Wills and other legal documents
