Are You Squirreling Away for Your Future?
The leaves are changing colour and falling to the ground and I see squirrels gathering fallen nuts to store for their winter meals. I’m not sure if that’s why the Fall is also ‘investment season’ but in as much as our ancestors put a lot of energy into preparing for the winter months, we are well advised to do the same.
The consequences of not preparing for our own future are not too different than those of pioneers. They would face bitterly cold weather, sickness, hunger and other barriers. Depending how well stocked with food, shelter and warm clothing or well prepared in terms of knowledge could make all the difference between surviving another season or not.
Although we have social benefits that will help out, the difference in lifestyle between having a plan and some savings and having none is huge. True, it is a balancing act to enjoy life today as well as prepare for life down the road, but savings of any sort equal options.
The next post will describe how to start saving!
