Basic Budget Allocations – What do Things Cost?
Maybe you’ve been paying the rent or your cable bill without wondering whether you’re paying the same, more or less than others? Perhaps you want to move out on your own and would like to know what it will cost.
Here are some averages for everyday expenses. They will vary somewhat depending where you live – surprisingly not by a whole lot. Earnings also vary by location. The job, job title and work you do may be similar but your paycheck is different!
Average Monthly Costs:
- Rent – 1 Bedroom $1,100
- Rent – 2 Bedroom $2,000
- Rent – House $3,000
- Housing (own your home/condo) $2,000+
- Food (per person) $150
- Transportation $500
- Clothing $300
*Note: Utilities are usually on your tab rather than included in the rent!
Some Others:
- Weekend away $500 to $1000
- One Week holiday (fly somewhere) $2,500 per person
- Sports/Fitness $200 per month
These are averages and in order to confirm many of these numbers, it is as easy as taking a look in the paper or on-line advertising boards.
Knowing the cost of everyday life can be valuable information and help you to make smart choices about what you pay for the things you need and want.
